Currently in both the 9th Ward and
Treme neighborhoods there are
historic homes for sale, in poor
condition, for $25,000 or less. If
you know of a historic home you
would like to recycle or a
neighborhood you would like to
recycle from please contact our
office.
Historic home prices are low. The
historic housing stock in New
Orleans was affected by two
consecutive events. Hurricane
Katrina in 2005 followed by the
credit crisis of 2009. Hurricane
Katrina affected 80% of the city,
and many of our historic
neighborhoods.
Soon after Katrina’s devastation the
credit crisis hit. The ever
escalating requirements banks have
to lend money has hurt historic home
restoration. It is fair to say,
Katrina created a supply of historic
homes needing restoration and the
credit crisis has perpetuated this
historic home supply. Let’s take
advantage of these low prices and
recycle. |
